15 DIY Craft Supply Organization Ideas

Sometimes as a crafter, your supplies may have a tendency to take over. Having your craft supplies organized is a must if you want to keep a clean area. These DIY ideas on how to organize your craft supplies will help you keep a clean (and possibly sane) crafting area.

There are lots of great items you can buy at stores to help with the organization of your supplies. Some of the ideas I am sharing with you today start out with those items, then you add a little bit DIY to make them better. Some of the ideas are upcycles of materials you have lying around in your home. I hope you find these oganizational ideas useful!

Tastefully Frugal shared this cute idea for $1 storage jars.  I think they would be perfect for buttons, washi tape, pom-poms, felt flowers, fabric scraps or ribbon trims.

Dawn Nicole shares her idea for organizing washi tape.  She updated an old stamp box to organize washi tape.  It's also a great place to keep push pins, paperclips, safety pins and rubber bands.

Happiness is Homemade shared how to repurpose an old drawer to organize your paint supply.  I love this idea!  You can see all the different kinds of paint and there is enough room to make two rows of paint bottles if you need to.

Sew Many Ways shared how to make magazine holders from a cereal box.  You can put magazines, books, and papers in them.  I have lots of crochet patterns I have made copies of that this would be perfect for.  I also have loose pages from magazines and these holders would keep them all in one place where I could easily find them.

A Casarella loves labels.  She shared how to attach vinyl labels to storage drawers.  I have so many stamps, tissue paper, bags, and scrap paper in drawers and this would be a great way to remember which drawer was holding what supplies.

Spunky Junky shared this simple but amazing idea how you can store your ribbons.  With 2 easily bought items you can make an ribbon holder.  This way you will always be able to find what ribbon you need and you don't have to worry about it coming unrolled.

My Two Butterflies shared about this hardware holder she found at the thrift store and turned it into a bead organizer. Those would make it so easy to find which color or shape bead you wanted to use.

Little House in the Big D showed how she used scrapbook paper to make a filing cabinet cute.  These shallow drawers would be perfect to store scrapbook paper.

Today's Creative Blog shared her creative idea to store paint.  I loved that it was useful and interesting to look at. I would love to make this for my new craft room.

I Heart Organizing showed how to use different cereal or granola bar boxes and cover them with cute papers and use them as drawer dividers.  It would be perfect for pencils, pens, glue sticks, tape, staplers, rubber stamps or stamp pads.

Crafty Nest shared her use of baby food jars for storage of little odds and ends.  I think it would be great for beads, buttons, jewelry making supplies or little wooden shapes.

Kinder Craze used a cutely decorated shoe box to organize her stickers. She made her own dividers to organize the stickers by topics.  You could also section them out by color too.

Raising Up Rubies shared a whole post on her craft organization.  I liked the 3 tiered metal organizer that she used with mason jars to organize her pens, colored pencils, markers and crayons.  While you are checking on that, make sure to look at her yarn organization too.  She shows a good idea how to store those little ends of skeins left over after a project.

2 Dorks in Love shows a great way to store your duct tape rolls and washi tape.  I love how this gets them out of drawers.

Cynthia Banessa showed how to make pencil and pen cup holders by re-purposing cans.  This project does require some cutting of wood pieces, but I think if you buy your wood at big stores (Home Depot for example) they will cut the piece to size for you.

I hope you got some good ideas for making your own craft storage from this post. I would love to hear from you in the comments which ones you think you would use.

    1. I was happy to share your great idea Nessa! Those dividers are so cost effective and cute. I would much rather have all my things in their own little section than floating around in a big drawer (as they are now).
