DIY Scrabble Tile Pendant

I had quite a few Scrabble tiles left over from the Scrabble Tile Coasters I made (see here) a few weeks ago, so I decided that I wanted to try to make these cute pendants.

Supplies needed:
Scrabble tiles
scrapbook papers
scissors
sandpaper
stickers
Mod Podge
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic or Diamond Glaze
Super Glue for Crafts
silver bails

I looked through my papers and picked about 15 that I liked and thought would work for this project.  Then I narrowed it down to the ones that would work with the small area of the tile face.  To do that, I cut a tile size hole in a piece of cardstock and used it to view what the paper would look like on the tile.  Next I traced the tile on the back of the scrapbook paper and cut out the paper.
Then I used Mod Podge to glue the papers to the flat side of the tiles.
There was just a little overhang of the paper off the edge of the tiles, so I trimmed them with my scissors.  Then I used a fine grade sandpaper to make sure all the edges of the paper were smooth against the tile.
Next I used Mod Podge to seal the papers.  I painted on one layer of Mod Podge, let that dry, then applied a second layer.  After it was dry, I picked a few stickers to decorate a couple of the tiles that had plain paper on them.  I added a layer of Mod Podge over the stickers when done.  I wasn't sure if you actually needed to, but decided to just in case.
The next thing to do was to add Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to make the glossy surface.
Start at the outer edges of the tile when you add this, then make your way to the center.  There may be small bubbles in the liquid on the tile.  I used the tip of the applicator to move the bubbles off the edge of the tile.  It takes quite a few hours for it to dry.  Make sure that it is in a place where nothing gets set on top of it.
Here the tiles are dry and glossy.

Next it was time to attach the bail. I got my bails at a great shop on Etsy: The Violet Room. I put just a few drops of the super glue on the flat side of the bail and laid it on the letter side of the tile.  When working with super glue, it dries fast so make sure to place the bail in the center the first time....you won't be able to move it around for better placement.
Then your pendant is finished!

Find a cute chain (or make your own!) so you can have a necklace.  Or you can even make these as Christmas ornaments and add a nice holiday ribbon.
